It has been a full month since our daughter landed on American soil and joined our family. Since I can't seem to compose many coherent thoughts these days, I will try to just give a few bullet points that sum up our last month...

- WE LOVE OUR DAUGHTERS!
- I'm learning more what love really means. And I had to memorize 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 (the love verses) to recite to myself at times when I just want to scream.
- This is hard. Hard for us as parents, and I'm sure much harder for our daughter as she tries to adjust to a whole new life.
- Lots of ups and downs, smiles and tears.
- It seems that what our daughter knows of American culture she learned from Cinderella, Snow White, Beyonce, Micheal Jackson, and Spiderman.
- In Ethiopia we met a very shy, quiet little girl. In America, we are getting to know a silly, loud little girl that loves to sing, dance and scream at the top of her lungs. In my ears.
- I have been praying that I would miraculously wake up one morning and be fluent in Amharic. Please?!?
- Our girls have a big age gap, but they can still make each other laugh. And they sure do make me laugh.
- Likes: Dolls, gum, Ethiopia, movies, swimming, bread
- Dislikes: Going to bed, being told "no", wearing short sleeves or shorts
- I started to drink coffee again...sleeping is rough.
- This healing journey is going to be a long one. Buckle up.
- I am weak. But God is strong. I have seen His strength and faithfulness every single day.
Each morning when I wake up I say, "God, I can't do this on my own." And each night I can say "Thus far, the Lord has helped me". We cherish all of the joyful times, which far outweigh the struggles. We keep reminding
each other that the hard times are where God does the deepest work in
our lives. And now, for the photo overload:
